Microsoft India’s retail online store was down on Monday after a credible hack, with an allegedly Chinese group called Evil Shadow Team posting rebuilt screenshots that appeared to be of fractionally undefined customers’ login credentials.

The Microsoft Store India ( website displayed an error message committing to recover access as soon as possible.

The Evil Shadow Team obscured the full usernames and passwords in the images posted on a blog run by Evil Shadow Team member 7z1 ( Writing in Mandarin, 7z1 represents himself as a “patriotic hacker.”

Microsoft’s Indian online Store is administered by local company Quasar Media. A spokesman said the company was interrogating the whole case.

Spokesman Rahul Roy said, “I am not sure when the site will be up again or what happened”.

A representative at Microsoft India said he was incapable to comment promptly.
