Google executive Marissa Mayer is indeed the chosen one. Tweeting “I’m incredibly excited to start my new role at Yahoo!” Mayer welcomes the new opportunity of becoming Yahoo’s new CEO and is all set to take the new responsibilities.

“I look forward to working with the Company’s dedicated employees to bring innovative products, content, and personalized experiences to users and advertisers all around the world,” enthused Mayer in a press release.

Mayer, who was Google’s first female engineer and who once had the responsibility of taking care of the appearance of Google’s home page, is now going to lead the competitors of “the smartest people [at Google].”

“MG this is so awesome. Google’s Marissa Mayer Tapped as Yahoo’s Chief,” tweeted Wikipedia’s co-founder Jimmy Wales. While Twitter’s very own Dick Costolo tweeted Mayer: “congratulations on the new role for one of the valley’s brightest minds.”

In a bid to competently compete and overshine the competitors like Facebook, Bing and Google, Yahoo has shocked everyone by selecting one of Google’s public faces as its chief executive officer. Now the question is that can Mayer turn things around for Yahoo search, the stats of which recently touched an all-time low (13.0%) as per Comscore.
