It has been two years since Microsoft had last released the Windows Embedded Compact 7 RTM. That was way back in 2011.

For those who have no prior knowledge about Windows Embedded, here’s a sneak peek. The Embedded system caters to playing an important role in the non-traditional computing environments. Microsoft has introduced this method to extend the reach of the Windows OS beyond the personal computer. This system of Microsoft was very much inclusive when its OS’s got launched, though the scenario has changed after the launch of Windows 8 and the tablets.

This Embedded OS is present in devices without adhering to any dimensional barriers and caters more to devices that need computing power, though it isn’t a standard computer, itself. The sale figures of this OS are not that lucrative, but they do form a part of the revenue sheets at Microsoft.

All said and done with, the rollout of this Embedded system will mark the release of Windows 8 into the non-traditional market as well and thus set the cash counters rolling for the company. Also, it will be able to create a niche for itself in the competitive market.
