The smartphone market is highly fragmented and much more than the top end iPhones and Galaxy S5s. In fact it is at the bottom of this pricing spectrum where the real competition lies with dozens of players promising value and features to their customers. Here two phones Nokia X2 and Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 have caught our attention and are giving each other a run for their money. While Nokia X2 made its debut this summer, Galaxy S Duos 2 was launched last year, both hold sizeable share in their segment. Today we shall review the specs of this phone and help you make an informed choice.

Processor

They are more or less the same with the Galaxy S Duos 2 being powered by a 1.2GHz BCM 28145/28155 dual-core processor and Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU while Nokia X2 has a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 dual-core processor and Adreno 302 graphics. Both these processors can offer you great experience with gaming and running multiple apps simultaneously.

Display
In terms of display Nokia has a 4.3-inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 800×480 and 217ppi which is protected by a scratch-resistant glass. Samsung handset is slightly smaller but is sharper with 4-inch TFT display with 800×480 resolution and 233ppi.

RAM and Storage
Nokia X2 has 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. Galaxy S Duos 2 on the other has 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, this time expandable to 64GB using a microSD card.

Battery
X2 has an 1800 mAh battery with a 552 hour standby time while the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 with its 1500 mAh battery has a standby time of 280 hours

Camera
Nothing separates the two and both has 5 megapixel at the back with autofocus, LED flash that captures 720p video. There is a front facing VGA camera. Both these cameras respond well to brightly lit conditions while Nokia X2 includes 1/4” sensor size, geo-tagging, touch focus features. Duos 2 has only the geo-tagging feature.

Connectivity
In terms of connectivity both these phones 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPRS, EDGE and microUSB 2.0. Galaxy S Duos 2 also features DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct which puts it nose ahead in the race.

Operating System
Both these phones are powered by Android and X2 runs on 4.3 Jelly Bean skinned with the Nokia X 2.0 UI while Galaxy S Duos 2 is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

As you can clearly see both these phones are neck to neck when it comes their specifications. While Nokia X2 scores on its larger display, RAM, and battery backup Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 wins on expandable storage, DLNA support and a better screen resolutions. In terms of pricing in India there is little to differentiate between the two handsets where it varies between Rs 500 and 700 hundred in favor of Nokia X2. It all boils down to brand preference and design aesthetics to choose between the two.
