The recently launched Moto X 2014 is more of a custom upgrade from the original Moto X version. This device is sure to be a strong competitor against the leading smartphone brands. Motorola X comes with augmented voice control. The layout is fully metal framed which gives a premium textured view from all angles. The wood banks together with optional leather make it look more stylish and a treat for the eyes for all occasions. There are more specs added to the upgraded Moto X 2014 that comes with Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat) that can be upgraded to Android L.

The Moto X comes with better more useful apps, larger and wider screen layouts. The chipset used is Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 and the processor attached is Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400. This certainly adds to the faster performance of the device. The graphical processing unit is built on Adreno 330 that adds more enhancements to the on-screen display. There are a number of sensors added to the Moto X related to accelerometer, barometer, temperature, gyro, proximity, and compass. The device supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, has support for MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player, Google Drive (50 GB storage), and also hosts document viewer, voice memo/dial and predictive text input.

The Moto X 2014 screen display is of 5.2 inches, 0.5 inches better than the earlier version. It would almost fit into one’s palms. The AMOLED capacitive touchscreen in 16M colors with Gorilla Glass protects the screen. The device comes with a full HD 1080 resolution offering crisper display. Moto X has a 13-MP camera with a circular flash which means the lense is made of LED bulbs on the left and right for balancing out shots. Groupies and selfies are better to be taken using front-face camera which is of 2.2MP. There’s no flash for front camera.

The Ultra HD mode is available only for rear camera shots supporting 4128 x 3096 pixels. There’s also a shortcut for accessing the camera app. By twisting the wrist twice,  pops up the default camera app so that one can create shots at the smallest possible time. Moto X also comes with a lot of custom configurations that would help to save battery life. Though this device beats the previous genres at all levels, the performance of the camera is still being evaluated. On comparison, the camera’s performance is not at par with the previous version.

The Moto X Battery life lives up to the expectation, with a battery life of 2300 mAh. This helps the larger screen configuration of the device. With such high battery life, Motorola expects the device to work for a minimum of 24 hours, so one can afford not to charge the device even for a day. The introduction of turbo charges can help as energy boosters that are meant to induce 8 hours battery life in just 15 minutes . That’s going to be a great option for frequent travellers. The Motion control and voice control apps make the Moto X a strong leader in smart-phone category.
