Have you ever lost a smartphone?
Well, I did. Not only me according to a Kensington survey, but around 70 million smartphones are also lost each year, with only 7 percent recovered.
And trust me, that feeling of losing your smartphone is more horrifying than sleep paralysis. Your mind stops working, and you have just one thing in mind: how to find your lost android phone.
The feeling is legit as our phones have become an integral part of our life. We massively rely on our phones for almost everything.
And by everything, I meant literally everything.
Our phones are the first thing we check after waking up and the last thing we check before going to bed. (Though I’m not in favor of this habit).
We have our private data, login credentials and banking details, etc., stored in our phones that we can’t think of losing even in our dreams.
So losing our phones is the last thing we ever want.
But sadly, sometimes our phones get stolen or lost when we are out, and at that moment, we can’t think of anything that can help us get our phone back, and we panic.
Well, there’s no need to panic.
Luckily, now we can remotely find and locate android phones and easily erase data from lost phones.
Google’s “Find My Device feature” allows users to quickly locate their android phones or tablets and let them erase all data from their device so that no one can have access to it except you.
But before we discuss how this feature works, you should know that to locate your lost device following options need to be turned on in your phone.

#Step 4: If the location shown by Google is nearby, or you know the place, you can visit there, and you can use the play sound option, which will ring your device at maximum volume for 5 minutes; your phone will ring even if it’s in silent or vibration mode.
#Step 5: If the place shown in Google is unknown to you or is located in unfamiliar areas, it’s best not to go there alone.
You can use the second option in this situation which is to secure your device. This option will lock your phone and sign it out of your Google account.
It also allows you to display a message and phone number on the lock screen, so the finder can contact you if they discover the device before you.
What if you don’t have a lock on your device?
Don’t worry. You can even set a new lock through this option.
#Step 6: If you cannot find your smartphone, then it’s ideal to go for the third option, which is to erase the device. Using this option will permanently erase your data so that it does not fall into the wrong hands.
Note: If you find your device after erasing all the data, you’ll need your Google Account password to use your device again.
