Google, rolled out a beta version of its Chrome browser for the latest Android operating system 4.0, aiming to get more of its desktop-computer application onto Smartphone devices.

Sundar Pichai, senior vice president in charge of Chrome and applications, said in a blog posting “Chrome browser, first revealed in 2008, will be accessible on Smartphone devices & tablets using the Google’s “Ice Cream Sandwich” Android OS” .

The company aims to boost up the mobile browsing speed by preloading top search results and allowing users to get the same bookmarks and tabs they have on their desktops computer.

Pichai said further said “Chrome for Android has been designed from the ground up for mobile devices. The software is “focused on speed and simplicity, but it also features seamless sign-in and sync so you can take your personalized Web browsing experience with you wherever you go, across devices.”

Google’s “Ice Cream Sandwich” has taken the lead in the smartphone operating system market, leaving Microsoft Corp’s mobile software and Apple Inc’s iPhone behind.

As per the NPD Group Inc reports, android smartphones accounted for 48 percent of the total US smartphone market in the Q4, while the iPhone had 43 per cent. NPD also said that almost three out of every five first-time smartphone buyers selected Android.
