Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt announced the coming of their forthcoming version of Android OS termed Ice Cream Sandwich in October or November; assumptions have started on the next version of Android.
As per the report citing faithful resources in ‘This is My Next’, Jelly Bean is the functioning name for next manifestation of Android.
The name goes after Google’s habit of calling its Android operating systems after various sweets in alphabetical order. Earlier versions of Android have their names in this order – Cupcake 1.5, Donut 1.6, Eclair 2.1, Froyo 2.2, Gingerbread 2.3, Honeycomb 3.0 and the forthcoming will be Ice Cream Sandwich.
The sources are saying that the “game-changing stuff” that had initially been planned for ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ will be pushed to Jelly Bean. Jelly Bean could be named Android 4.5 or Android 5.0, depending on the quantity of features added.
Ice Cream Sandwich is likely to be a worldwide OS that will function on TVs, tablets, phones and even phones that convert into laptops. Along with that, the OS is expected to get a holographic user interface, interactive and new home screen widgets, a multi-tasking panel and updated app launcher.
I hope it is going to bash this smart phones stream again 🙂
The new Android operating system Ice Cream Sandwich was just unveiled today, but I can’t seem to find any indication of WHEN it will be available for download.
I’m assuming since the Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to have Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS from here on out!) that the update will be rolling out after that phone hits the market.
If you know the dates for Galaxy Nexus release or ICS release for the United States, I would really like to know 🙂
My Sprint EVO and I are waiting to decide what our next cellular step will be!
Thanks 🙂
