The increase in the trend of social payments hasn’t been unknown to anyone. To carry forward the fast growing trend, PayPal has introduced an amazing Facebook App which enables you to easily send money to your friends.

The app is meaningfully titles Send Money and it is just as simple and straightforward as its name. You are given the option to either send an e-card with money or just money sans any card. All you need to do is select the card of your choice, choose the friend you wish to send it to and then select how much money you wish to send.

“The PayPal and Facebook infrastructure have now merged,” PayPal’s Anuj Nayar says. “This is another way to personalize the act of giving money.”

Though there were several ways enabled by the PayPal which let Facebook user’s pay, for instance Payvment, but this is the unique one of its kind App enabling the peer to peer payments via Facebook and PayPal. And since it is a peer to peer transaction, the users have to pay no additional transaction fee, although PayPal’s regular limits and international fees are still applicable.

“Sending money, person to person, is free,” PayPal Senior Product Marketing Manager JB Coutinho said. “If it’s funded by a PayPal balance or linked to a bank account, it’s free.”

And though the prime objective of the Send Money App is to allow the transactions around the world thanks to the biggest social network in the world, the ecard aspect has been actively advertised as well. PayPal wasted no time in pointing out that more than 500 million ecards are sent every year, and thus PayPal has made available a dozen of choices of ecards on every occasion, from birthdays to anniversaries to just congratulations.

We can see the app really taking off. Users who see on Facebook that it’s a friend’s birthday can quickly fire up the app and send a card and some cash within a few minutes. The app is just as useful for things like lottery pools and reimbursing friends for lunch. It’s a big step toward making social payments a reality.
