Apple on Tuesday announced a press event on March 7 at which it is anticipated to launch the latest version of its most popular iPad tablet dubbed as iPad 3.

Apple sent the invitation to journalists by email on Tuesday, however did not affirm the iPad 3 launch officially. The invitation read: “We have something you really have to see. And touch.” The message featured an image of a gadget resembling the iPad.

News of this new media event sent shares of the company, the world’s most admired, rising to close at $535.41, which got increased by $9.65 or nearly 2 percent on Monday’s close.

The iPad 3 is likely to have a sharper and brighter resolution screen as compared to iPad 2, along with the support for wireless carriers’ 4G LTE networks. Wireless carriers including Verizon Wireless and AT&T are anticipated to sell the new model.

This next week’s media event is going to held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the same venue where Apple launched its last two versions of iPad tablet.

BBC reported that more than 50 million iPads have been sold since it was first launched in 2010.

The first two versions of the iPad tablet revolutionized the tablet market, and converted it into one of the fastest-growing sectors in the computer industry.

Apple is yet to disclose when its new products will go on sale, however in 2011 iPad 2 sales started nine days after the launch, which also began in March.
